Re: IP based field IFB

How would that work from a standpoint of practicality? And wouldn't this be a complicated way of gaining a minimal amount of fidelity (and call stability) above the simplicity of just dialing a phone? (Sorry...this is the devil's advocate in me talking now...) I'll admit there's a marked difference ...

IP based field IFB

I'm curious as to whether such a concept exists. I was talking with one of out photogs/truck ops, and he brought up the topic on how much better quality the IFB audio is on our bonded cellular units (TVU, LiveU, Dejero), and how poor (comparatively speaking) the IFB audio is when using cell phones w...

Re: Cold weather ENG cable

We use a lot of 1505A in house, but I'd prefer something with a flexible core in cold weather. I've used it in the field in a pinch, and have no problems in warm weather.

The search continues...

Cold weather ENG cable

The end of March probably isn't the best time of year to ask this question, but... I'm in the market for an ENG truck coax which will support 720p over 200-250 feet, and still be flexible at temperatures +10 or colder. I've used Belden 7502A, which is flexible enough when it's cold, but the performa...

"Splicing" a nycoil

I have an ENG truck that has a broken chunk of nycoil about 1/2 way up. Short of replacing the nycoil, does anyone have a suggestion on what would be a good way to splice this break?

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. thanks!

Re: ENG truck dialup IFB problem

Jeff, Thanks for the reply, it's very much appreciated. The truck unit is the older Model 2 controller. I'm trying to track down some technical info (we have several of them...there has to be a manual around here somewhere), but I did pop one open for a look around and found nothing in the way of ad...

ENG truck dialup IFB problem

I don't know if this particular issue has ever been addressed on this forum (as I'm a newbie here), but the field talent have been complaining about this for some time, and I'm not sure how to approach the problem. It happens hundreds of times a day - the newsroom sends out an ENG truck to a news st...
