Re: Anyone have a.............

The Motorola HPN1007A is an Astron RS‑10 derivative. http://www.k0vsc.com/astron-rs10.jpg Hope that helps. Tony Yea, I saw that schematic online as well. It's difficult to read the "KHPCTPZ5-005". Not sure if that's the number. Anyway the diodes look like a button type that slide into a holder that...

Re: Is there a requirement for a .2 digital channel?

Doubling up stations on one channel (especially two HD's) would seriously put a kabosh on providing mobile DTV services.

Re: Time Warner/Snowstorm/TV 18 & 24

We went off the air around 9:02pm Tuesday night. Power was restored at 5:30am Wednesday morning and we were back on the air at 6am. The power loss was at the studio. The transmitters remained on the air. Regarding the fiber link.....all providers pick receive us via the Free Wireless Digital Televis...

So far I've been Blessed, made an Angel, and Adopted. It's amazing what a rescan can do!

Also had a person hang up because rescanning was too complicated.

Re: June Question Of The Month

Greetings to all. I was coming home from a lighting event and drove past the studios of WVTV (TV) and saw the old tower they used to transmit from next to the studios. No sticks on it anymore as they have been in Tower Park for some time now but the STL microwave antennas are on the tower and point...

Re: May Question of the month

Its been awhile since I posed a question to the brain trust here... This is more specific to the Milwaukee engineers.. What makes the area around Capitol Dr near Shorewood so special? It seems like just about every major broadcaster has either their main or aux sites here (or both!). Why is this ar...

Re: Best 8VSB Tuner "Bang for the Buck"

There are some audio issues with the Zenith, Insignia (Best Buy Brand), and Digitalstream units. It would seem anything that uses the LG111D decoder chip. When a station sends out 5.1 surround a chirping/tweeting sound can be heard from the left channel (using RCA audio out) or mixed in the RF out. ...

Mis-spoke earlier. I was thinking of something else. A 6Mhz digital cable channel is capable of 38Mbs using QAM 256 encoding. Up to three HD or more (SD) ATSC channels can fit provided they are decoded and re-encoded (as QAM) using rate shaping. A good white paper on this although it's almost 5 year...

Oh and nothing can smell quite as bad as Marquette's campus when the wind is from the southwest (mmm...yeast + Menominee River)

WCGV analog is at Holton & Capitol
WCGV & WVTV digital are on the community tower.
