Re: VOIP replacing analog
If the studio is staying with an analog broadcast phone system behind the Cisco phone system, the Cisco VG202XM or a Cisco VG204XM would work fine. Ask your telecomm system administrator to make sure they are sending CPC signalling when the call ends - got bit by this one myself. If you are going to...

Knife edge limits for § 15.221 Operation in the band 525-1705 kHz.
The Nonprofit I volunteer at has a potential grant to purchase a TR6000 Model 15.73 and ANXX Antenna. Our attorney is drafting a letter to the FCC to verify that our educational status qualifies us to operate under § 15.221 Before I ask to spend non-grant money on hiring a professional (PE or GROL) ...

Suppressing Windows 10 Update and Forced Reboots
I pretty much gave up fighting MS re the update and forced reboot issue - what seems to be working for me so far Deploy Server 2016, and the "user experience" package. Pretty much acts like W10, with the ability to update and reboot issue on your schedule, not theirs. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-u...

Re: computer dropping off network
I'm not seeing an official release date on 1809. I had a handful of W10 boxes pick it up. Users are stating it updated on it's own. 1803 has it's own bunch of issues with network connectivity. https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-resolve-network-problems-caused-by-the-windows-10-april-2018-up...

Re: computer dropping off network
The forced upgrade to 1809 (Redstone 5) seems to have included all the network problems from the 1803 (April) updates that everyone skipped.
If you have a restore point set, my suggestions would be to roll back.

Re: Telco lightning/surge arrestors
Seconded for Porta Systems, as part of a protection system that bonds everything together and is correctly grounded.

Re: High School Studio patchbay - help!
A forward looking option would be to deploy coax / connectors suitable for SDI and use HDMI over COAX boxes at both ends. https://www.blackbox.com/en-us/store/Detail.aspx/HDMI-to-3G-SDI-HD-SDI-Converter/VSC-HDMI-SDI https://www.blackbox.com/en-us/store/Detail.aspx/3G-SDI-HD-SDI-to-HDMI-Converter/VSC...

Re: High School Studio patchbay - help!
Here's my questions: 1. How big of a patch bay do I need for this? 2. Do I have them do 10 each of HDMI and XLR? A few VGA? 3. Should I have them drop SDI for down the road when we upgrade cameras? As to capacity: Take what you are currently using and double it. As to future proofing the work, I wo...

Re: PE for New Jersey
Tower + 1.5 yards of transit mix is cheaper then a pole. Since Hurricane Sandy pole pricing is out of control.
Edit: and it still would need a PE as it's *not* a pole used by a public utility....

PE for New Jersey
Need a NJ licensed PE to stamp a *very* small tower job. It being erected on municipal land on behalf of a non-profit, so it needs the permit and seal. When I say small, I mean small - this is literally 20 feet of self supporting Rohn 26G with a PTZ video camera on top. Drop zone is parking lot and ...

Re: Telos Two x6 / Two x12
We were given a Two x12 and have set it up behind an Avaya PBX on analog ports.
- The Telos Desktop Director is pretty beat up - any ideas on where to source refurbs? All of my normal telecomm suppliers are returning no bid.
- Are you using any software with the Two x ?

Trilithic MT5634SMI
We just acquired a Trilithic IPTV MT5634SMI EAS Decoder. Downloaded a manual from https://eas.trilithic.com/Documents/Manuals/index.html With the understanding that the use is a non-mandatory system in a commercial podcast studio, Is there anything that someone new to the Trilithic product line shou...
