Re: Anyone here that can do a quick AM study?

Thanks Deep. PM sent. On the same subject, Is an existing but unregistered non-broadcast tower (ie, 2-way tower) exempt from the environmental and cultural impact studies if a broadcast station is added to the tower? Is the VALCOM antenna bound by those same study requirements? This station is in Ma...

Anyone here that can do a quick AM study?

Hi all, My 2nd or 3rd oldest client (and good friend) is being evicted from their long time rented TX site for nothing other than vindictiveness of the deceased former owner's daughter. Can anyone take a quick look at the station as it exists today and give us some idea of where it can potentially m...

Re: Negotiating with the tower conglomerates

The large vertical real estate companies would rather not mess with small owners but will certainly take your money if you insist... And don't try to slip in a fly-by-night tower crew. A ministry group that I did some work for many years ago tried that and got to pay the VRE's certified tower crew t...

but my attitude about the company and their commitment to support has drastically soured, to put it mildly.
And when Ralph Wegman retires, there will be basically zero knowledge of these transmitters left at GatesAir.

Re: AM Transmitter Shelter

Coax to towers and sample lines will remain the same. New location 50 to 100 feet due south of current location and our tower guy tells us he can easily Used cell phone buildings have been suggested but where the heck to you find them for sale? I can get the Governor on the phone easier than I can ...

Re: AM station to shut down at end of May 2019

The same thing has happened near me. Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tn. has shut down operations of it's AM station and non-comm FM. They have a CP for a translator to go with the AM. I have sent several people in administration there emails asking what they plan on doing with the licens...

Re: AM Transmitter Shelter

Looking for suggestions on "budget" (new or used) shed/shelter to house a 5kw AM transmitter, 3 phase cabinets, and two or three standard size equipment racks. This is for a possible transmitter relocation from inside the studio building to the new shed/shelter near the center tower base. What kind...

Re: Sage Digital Endec logging best practices

I'm curious as to how you guys store, manage and backup your EAS logs. Right now, our station's EAS logs are only kept on the flash memory of the Sage Digital Endec which I absolutely do not like since there's no redundancy. I firmly agree that you should never depend on the internal memory. I have...

Re: Sage Digital Endec logging best practices

Think I saw this elsewhere: G-suite and Gmail won’t work with the Sage units. Or Broadcast Tools but that’s another thread. Regarding the paper logs, that’s what I’ve always done. Pretty much in the same way. Sage works well with Gmail. I have a bunch doing it with less secure devices (IIRC) set on...

Re: Moseley SL9003Q Cards

Not a simple plug them in. Dip switch changes & settings changes from front panel. Call Kevin Winn....he may even have the modules. www.winntronics.com Thanks for the info, I briefly talked to Kevin Winn Thursday evening. He has some of the cards and will have a deeper conversation Friday AM about ...

Re: AM station to shut down at end of May 2019

That is sad. My 3rd client of all time (and good friend) has decided to pull the plug on his singleton AM June 20th as well. I begged him to apply for a translator. Turbo found a ND 250w freq but they didn't see any value in a CP. They have had the station on the market for over 2 years with no seri...

Moseley SL9003Q Cards

Hi all, I have a client with a 2 audio channel StarLink that needs to be expanded to 4 audio channel. Does anybody have any SL9003Q audio cards that you would want to get rid of? Is this a simple plug in of another analog card on both ends? I have absolutely zero experience with this model of STL. R...

Re: Stupid Basic Size Question

I have one FM station with an air studio, prod studio, tiny office and a bathroom in less than 1000sqft. The air studio occupies close to 1/3rd of the total space. It is very engineer unfriendly but is perfectly functional. The owners office is at his home where he also has a small studio. I have an...

Re: Audio cable for AM transmitter site? Star Quad or Ethernet or What?

I have been using a Dymo Ryno 4200 for several years. Other than the obscenely expensive large format label maker that I have stashed at the shop, it is the best that I have every used. IF you get the good tape, the labels stay put. I bought some knockoff tape and it was a disaster... I too typicall...
