Sounds like the tower I "discovered" was 120 VAC above ground when I connected my OIB-3. I think I scared the cows that night.
I don't recall ever finding a tower with hard 120v on it but have found several that had enough leakage to light you up if the static drain was disconnected.

Re: KYFR AM tower light monitor

A bit off topic but something odd that I found associated with an ACM. I just finished rebuilding a TWR controller that was constantly suffering wierd, strange lightning damage constantly.. By weird I mean, loosing a flasher or slave SSR to often but almost constantly losing one or more of the frigg...

Instead of speculating, we could also just wait for the report to come out as to the cause.
But, but, BUT... We is engineers.

Dayton Receiver Manuals

Hi all, Does anyone have a stash (or just one) of scanned Dayton Receiver Manuals? I have grabbed a couple that I found on this forum but am still missing several and they are mighty hard to find on the interwebs... I have rx's of about every model scattered around the region and after striking out ...

Re: KYFR AM tower light monitor

A Sine Systems ACM2 will do what you want. I have several sites using them in exactly the configuration that you note. Depending on the accuracy and granularity of the remote A-D, I can tell when they lose one OB lamp but it would be hard to alarm for just one lamp. The output voltage will vary with...

Re: Tiger Mountain (WA) master antenna catches on fire

Looked to me like a radome fire...the top few seem intact. However they don't just go up on their own so something lower got damn hot. And since it looks like the damage wasn't isolated to 1 side, it was really, really damn hot or more than 1 bay lite off. Some of the pictures elsewhere look like c...

Re: Tiger Mountain (WA) master antenna catches on fire

Yikes... And I thought that a burned out 3in line was a PITA. I hope there isn't any structural damage on the tower. How exactly would a panel antenna burn up most of the bays? Soot and debris thru pressurization plumbing or connecting coax links? No VSWR shutdown? It just seems a bit odd that most ...

Weird... They don't seem to show up in the notifications list on the forum page either. Might be a delayed gmail thing.

Notifications

Hi all,

Did anyone else receive about 30 message notifications from various of the forums between 3 & 5AM this morning? Opening a few of them, I don't see any new messages.

Later,

Re: Infamous Brian Dodge enters consent degree with FCC

I know this is an old, old thread but was wondering if Dodge was still in radio in any way. I have a bit of a past with him and am absolutely astounded that he isn't serving time for insurance fraud (among other things).

Re: Hurricane Michael Broadcaster Assistance

Ironically, I am in Destin (about 60 miles east of PC/Mexico Beach) on vacation. I have a volt meter and some small tools but am supposed to be heading back to TN Sunday AM. Destin escaped completely unscathed.

Re: RING MY BELL

Excellent creative solution to the legal problem! Needs to be a textbook example. NAB? On the other hand, here's a Denver TV reporter who found a way to do a story on the WEA without using prohibited tones, but actual duck noises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYRv_ZkU3sA quack quack Now that's f...

Re: New UPS suggestion

I am watching this thread carefully. I have been bitten by almost all of the consumer level UPS's at some point... Particularly in the area of "what happens when the UPS screws it's-self into the ground and then the power comes back on"... I had been getting very good service from a particular model...

Re: RING MY BELL

WEA set off about 40 phones in the resturant where I was grabbing lunch. As far as I could tell, every phone in the joint went off except for one gent's flip phone. He said that he received CAE, etc alerts normally so not sure why he didn't get the NPT.

Re: Inovonics 719 David IV

I only have 1 David processor at a station and find myself fairly underwhelmed by it. Not to say that it is horrible but I have never been able to make it sound good AND loud. Either is obtainable but not both. Great sounding presets (if they existed) on my system could sound like total crap on your...
