Re: ASI Card AES cable

Once upon a time the high end ASI cards came with those high density connectors but my goodness it would take a bizillion power magnifying glass to solder them. IIRC, they were similar to a high density SCSI connector. You might try StudioHub / Radio Systems or see if ASI can supply the bare connect...

Re: Synchronizing FM over IP?

And I too made the mistake of suggesting a synchronous booster to a client that was desperately seeking an answer to his self-inflicted coverage problems. It solved a bunch of problems but created 2x more. It was a disaster. With both frequencies synced identically via GPS on identical gear with car...

Re: Cablewave Part No. - N Female for FLC78-50

I may be wrong but I think that the solid center connector may work on the hollow center but obviously not vice-versa... Do they supply the little brass slug to put into the center conductor so the spring fingers on the solid conductor connector fit? I know the clamped terminations used for AM ATUs...

Re: Cablewave Part No. - N Female for FLC78-50

I may be wrong but I think that the solid center connector may work on the hollow center but obviously not vice-versa... That is as long as it is a circular corrugation and not the old, old spiral type line.

It has been 20+ years since I worked on that type of cable daily...

Re: Weird satellite problem

And the problem Premier RX has surfaced again. This morning my client called to say that they couldn't set the NetCue assignments nor schedule. We quickly determined that the RX was on a vastly wrong IP (10.90.1.xxx when the local net was 192.168.1.xxx) AND was set for DHCP. I talked them thru turni...

Re: Weird satellite problem

Premier has had ongoing problems for nearly a month or more. No word from them at all about it. Just crickets. Some of us have very low signal from that carrier, and folks like you have nothing. Go figure. I have a client with much the same problems for a month or so and am wondering if it is an ad...

Re: Tantalum caps

An ArraCUSS board that I once maintained had dozens of tantalum caps across the power rails. Almost very time a little Tstorm passed, one or more would short. There was almost never any other damage in the station outside of the PS rail caps. I threw together a low voltage short finder out of a D ba...

Re: WVRC-8 Plus Site Control Setup Configuration Questions

1) Is it possible to change the relay state via the telephone dail-in with the relay output latch option (not pulse)? I can select either pulse or latch via the web interface but it seems that the telephone only has "pulse" support for the relay drive state? 2) Does the WVRC-8 plus version support ...

Re: WWV WWVH

I cannot remember when I last set a clock to WWV/CHU. Easily more than 10 years ago. Since I don't wear a watch nor care much about clocks neither have I but I use the signals regularly to verify receiver / SA operation and check freq stability of some of my test equipment. I have a cheap but seemi...

Re: WWV WWVH

The lack of 5/10/15 MHz WWV service will mean the end of my Heathkit GC1000 Most Accurate Clock, as that's my primary time device in the house. Yes it draws a lot of power. Yes it gets hot. But you can see those nice red LEDs in a dark room, unlike all the other LCD or analog atomic clocks out ther...

Re: Capacitor replacement.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the photos show no DC connection from the tower to ground through the lighting choke. If that is indeed the case you need to add a static drain. And not just for the well being of the caps. An insulated tower with no static drain will light up your world even ...

Phasetek quoted me $90 each....that seems a tad high to me but what do I know?
A very few years ago $90/ea would have been scandalous but is cheaper than what I recently paid from another vendor. Limited supply has really jacked up the prices.

And don't forget that a lightning strike can physically and electrically damage the antenna itself. It can crack/burn the antenna tubing which will allow water to enter as well as trash various important internal parts.

Re: Nicom 900 link

Those little OMB antennas won't be much good beyond a mile or two. Management is going to have to spend some money here. I would suggest either And to that point but not to be a rule monger... What is the directionality requirement for new license? I seem to recall that it takes a pretty tight ante...
