Audio wiring with punchdown.

Anyone got suggestions or comments on audio wiring with punchdown blocks? 66? 110? ADC? others? Here's what I know, which mostly relates to 110 blocks. They are designed for 22-26AWG solid conductors, and you can have problems with using stranded conductors (so I've heard, I've alwasys followed the ...

Re: Wattgate 381 Audio Grade Duplex Socket

Welcome to "Audiophile" land, where "too much money" meets "stupid f***ng Idiot" Seriously, I guess these fools don't realize the recording studio's used plain vanilla nickel connectors, regular old balanced cables, and plain old copper power wire, on all the gear in the whole studio, on all those g...

Re: Old analog Gear, need manuals, etc.

OK, So I got to play with this thing for a few minutes the other day and my cable works and the unit responds to conrol. Didn't get it hooked up to sources yet, but looks promising. I do not have a warp board, guess I didn't count the empty spot at the top (which has no card contacts anyway). I also...

Re: Muting TV Studio Speakers When Mic is Opened

If you don't feel like homebrewing (perish the thought), check out DM engineering . They make add on boxes for non broadcast mixers to add On/Off buttons to mute/unmute mic channels and control relays for various nefarious purposes. I'd still prefer an opto across the Mute tally so when something i...

Re: Old analog Gear, need manuals, etc.

Got the manuals yesterday, thanks so much. I didn't have time to play with any of it yet but sometime soon maybe, my summers are terribly busy anymore..... Magni was founded in the mid-80s by a handful of folks from Tektronix, but never really made up their mind whether they were in the test equipme...

Re: Old analog Gear, need manuals, etc.

I have no idea what slot 1 is used for... there's nothing shown in the manual for that. Perhaps it was used for factory testing. I'm not sure which slot was not populated, just that one was not, I'll have to take a closer look and get back to you. (i am not near the unit right now) I did make the c...

Re: Old analog Gear, need manuals, etc.

Jeff, That is just perfect, thanks so much. I'll build up a cable and see where I can get. I am sure I will have some questions for you at some point. I've never used one of these before, what is the floppy disk for? storing programs? or Can it load graphics as well. I am under the impression that t...

Old analog Gear, need manuals, etc.

Hi, I've picked up some old analog gear dirt cheap, hoped to use it at my church in thier video ministry (no broadcasting). I've got an Abekas A51/51+ that I need a cable for the control panel to mainframe connection, the pinout for which is in the tech manual, and the operating manual would be good...

Re: Radio Shack no longer...

I've been told that the Rat Shack in Pittsboro, NC still stocks a pretty good parts inventory. Haven't made it down there yet. The ones in Burlington are clueless. Some are better than others, depends on the owner and what they order. None of the closest ones ever have what I need, the one about 45...
