Re: Wattgate 381 Audio Grade Duplex Socket

Some of the "customer reviews" are hilarious: Before installing the Wattgate 381 Audio Grade Duplex Socket, I was only able to pick up a few local radio stations on my HD receiver. The stations I could hear had a lot of static and where hard to listen to. Since installing the Wattgate 381 Audio Grad...

Yep. When 'America's Team' had another losing year, Tush delivered the baseball scores wearing a paper bag over his head.

When I left they were still running sweepers and liners that Greg cut. Pass along best wishes if you speak with him!

Re: MS-15 EXCITER FREQ CHANGE

Heh. I have an old Harris 20H3 in storage that has a TE-3, that has the "Optimod" module in it (I assume that you installed that if you were running an 8000). Always wanted to fire that exciter up and play... ;) You can upgrade that from a H to a K by swapping in a MS 15. That module is a...

Difficult to get an effective antenna for those rather low frequencies into something the size of a cell phone.

Re: Tom "Shotgun" Kelly - KGB

First station I was engineer at had a Collins 212-G like that. That was a sweet sounding board when all the tubes were new in it. It was also a nice running board as well. That console was indestructible. Serial #1 was in service at WFHR, Wisconsin Rapids until just a few years ago. AFAIK another 2...

Re: Night Time Power Question

Greetings Braintrust. We have a local AM here, WGLB AM, and I was noticing that they run 185 watts daytime into a DA and then they run 250 watts at night. What I find so unusual is that they jack the power up at sundown. Just about all the AMs I've ever listened to reduced power at night. WDLB, Mar...

Re: Phone Service from the Cable Co

You might instead see if one of your local ISP's will locate your streaming server at their end. You'll only need a single stream from your building to them per station, which should work fine on your DSL connection. One of our stations has Charter phone/internet and it's been (sorry Charter) unacce...

You can do it from the M&C port. I'll have to go dig up some long filed away notes, but it's something like:

Re: I just don't know why we're not at full power...

I also have fought the early Collins 20KW FM rigs and found them to be extremely awkward to work on. Changing the 4CX250's in the driver was always a challenge. You had to hold your tongue just right, and use lots of body english to seat them rascals in the sockets while holding the chimneys in pla...

Try Legend Electronics (914) 747-1777

They have a $100 minimum order, but often have hard to find stuff in stock.

Re: 8100xt2 stereo pilot issue

Card edge connectors get funky after years of service, pulling the cards out and reinserting them a couple times fixes it. (power off of course). Same with the 20-turn pilot level pot, it can develop bad spots with age. Bad power supply caps cause the 8100's to get squirrel y as well, often you'll g...

Re: RCA-BTA1M

It's been years since I worked on one of those old RCA's, certainly swapping the audio driver tubes with known good tubes would be a start. Losing one of them will drop your audio level considerably. Has the audio distortion level increased, or is it just too low? I don't recall if that box has cath...
