Re: Tower rental rates
So, in a nutshell, the answer to my question is, the arrogance that other people aren't bright enough to interpret the data they might receive. Sort of figured that already. Nobody ever wants to talk about how much they pay for stuff for some reason that I've never understood. Possibly in this case...

If you want to get a "feel" for the exams, qrz.com has practice tests online. It's a good way to get an idea of what you're up against. The ARRL has study guides as well, and you can often find a copy at your local library.

Re: SBE Certification
As someone who is proudly certified, yes, there are people with certifications who are worthless. There are people without them that are worthless too. However, certification does tell a potential employer that you are serious enough about your career to have gone through the process. Do you need ce...

He actually got in two more times.
I ended up changing the PM settings to require a new member to have five posts before being allowed to PM. Hopefully that takes care of it.
Sorry about that!

Re: Trouble with a Continental 816R-2B IPA re-fit
I actually have the same issue with my 816R-2B "drifting into tune" at startup. The Continental IPA will often show high (but not critical) VSWR until the transmitter has been on for a bit, then it settles in. I can't recall - does the problem improve with leaving the filaments on for seve...

Re: LPFM - STL the one?
I don't think there's an issue with Barix, if they're on the same LAN. It eliminates the typical problems associated with Barix. I know of one college station using a Barix on their LAN as an STL and have had no issues with it.

Re: price check
Just to pile on, the MS-15 only has single loop PLL, and pretty much any current processor will cause it to unlock on bass notes. I'm also thinking that it's pretty easy to get a later model Bext or something for under $800.
I'm thinking that you'll be lucky to get $200.

Doc: My first call was at 204AM. By the time I got that one squared away and back on, the second one called, but it was not coming back from the dead. The one station has only been down twice in 17 years due to icing. That is remarkable considering there are no radomes or deicers on that ERI low po...
