Re: SALE ITEM
Don't you know it, Bob! One station running at 25%, another at 75%, a couple others doing the best they can. My day yesterday started at 3am! Even the sites with heaters and radomes were unhappy. It's probably the worst I've seen in ages, and really is wasn't bad on the ground. It was just a lot &qu...

Nautel already has an optional UPS interface for many of their transmitters.RodeoJack wrote:So... we should expect future transmitters to include a UPS for the internal computers?

The Gates series were known to blow fuses by the simple act of walking into the transmitter building.

Re: EAS/CAP and low power FM stations
As far as I know, there is no need for OBW measurements, though it couldn't hurt. As TPT alluded to, the reasoning for requiring type-certified transmitters for LPFM was to eliminate the expense and difficulty for some of these small operators to have that kind of testing done (and also to eliminate...

Yeah, it's certainly slower. But we're dealing with sub 1MB upload so it comes with the territory!

Re: Nautel NV 15 LT
Howdy, I am installing a new Nautel NV15 LT FM rig. The site has access to DSL service with 3 Mbs up and 0.75 Mbs down. Any thoughts on using this link for controlling the transmitter? Will it be fast enough for a stable control circuit? Also, how does one send RDS info to the site? The STL is a Mo...

Re: Is This an Omnia 6-FM Or Something Else?
That sounds like it could have been an analog box fed through one of ClearChannel's proprietary "C4" clippers, which gave them that highly clipped sound. Those clippers pretty much went the way of the dodo when they started rolling out the new digital boxes.

Barix boxes work fine for the price - I think you'll find that there are more reliable boxes out there by Tieline (Bridge-IT), Comrex (BRICLink), and Telos (Z/IP One), but be prepared to spend $1500+ for each side.
It's all about how much you're willing to spend!

Re: Duct Fan for back-up transmitter?
"I have to remember to disable those macros or the Continental won't shut down." Yeah, that's a recipe for disaster. If the transmitter shuts itself off (or someone does by pushing the "off" button) it should never come back on by itself. I would modify those to trigger on a pow...

Re: Monitoring, Day Sequerra
You could use a Sangean or Sony HD tuner to verify audio presence, and if you "calibrate" the output level to an existing mod monitor, you can get a fairly good indication of actual analog modulation. Far cheaper than buying a real mod monitor. Some of the newer HD tuners (DS, for one) wi...

Re: HARRIS MX-15 EXCITER EXTENDER BOARD
Glad I was able to find it for you. It was for a long-since-gone MS-15 that was connected (of all things) to an AEL FM 20-KB. It was just taking up space in my junque cabinet.
