Re: optimod 2300 boots to blank screen

Remember, Orban Labs isn't the Orban we all once loved! If my last service runaround I got from DaySequerra (who now owns Orban) is any way to judge you may find it less of a hassle to just replace it with a Wheatstone or Omnia! They had an M2 monitor of mine for three months and it was still screwe...

Re: Aphex Compellor 323A parts

I looked in my parts pile, I must have discarded the front panel.

Re: Aphex Compellor 323A parts

I actually replaced the front panel of a 323A a number of years ago. I'll look in my storage to see if I kept it or not. If it's still there you can have it for postage. I just replaced it as it wasn't pristine and I wanted it in a publicly facing rack.

Re: Another Win10 update

Surprise, as M$ usually has Patch Tuesday as the second Tuesday of the month. Most of mine are controlled on a WSUS setup so we only push updates once they're known to be bug free.

Wonder if it was really related to an update or you have something play merry-go-round on your network.

Re: Belar FMS-2 Docs Needed

Any luck, Jim? I have a manual somewhere that I'd be glad to scan but I'd need a way to spot the older version from the current version.

Re: AM Revitalization Idea.

If I recall, I believe Jim was kind enough to share his thoughts in the past on my Part 15 radio forum, HobbyBroadcaster.net. Something I've learned over time is that many think they don't need to comply with Part 15 regs and some of the very same would likely cause a mess on the AM band if they wer...

Re: Smart AC Power Circuit Breaker with Web Control?

Likely a much safer bet would be to get something along the lines of a Eaton ATS rack PDU AC transfer switch and connect the inputs to two different 120vac circuits. Then you can connect your UPS to the output of it, so the UPS will only be used if both AC circuits failed. It's probable that if two ...

Re: Belar FMS-2 Meters

@Jim: My FMS-2 and FMM-2 are set to rest on the lowest part of the scale. I replaced the meters on my FMS-2 years ago due to faded scales and the screw adjustment was all I needed to get the movement in the proper position at rest.

Lane Lindstrom Passes

I was saddened to discover this morning that broadcast engineer Lane Lindstrom (Virtual Engineer forum member Radiolanes) passed away yesterday due to Sarcoma, which apparently he beat once but returned with a vengeance. Lane was a broadcast engineer in the central Illinois area. I was fortunate eno...

I remember seeing it in an old Gates manual for one of their exciters. If I happen across it I'll do a scan and post.

Re: Valley 401 schematic

Reminds me of the Aphex 320a Compellor manual which the first version had schematics and they pulled them with every revision afterwards.

Hopefully someone will happen across the schematic for the 401 for you, Chuck.

Re: Valley 401 schematic

I had a scan of the manual but can't find it at the moment. Perhaps the 400 schematic would be close enough to help in troubleshooting:

Re: AM station to shut down at end of May 2019

I believe Ryan was doing WQUN up until the end, as I know he and fellow broadcast colleague Bob Gilmore were also working together at ESPN in Bristol. Here's a link to my forum post when four years ago (and 50 pounds heavier) I toured the station's transmitter site:

Re: Changing Frequency Of Belar RFA-1 FM RF Amplifier

Depending on how far you're moving it you'll need a new front end coil set, too. Does the FM have that? I know the AM version does. Not sure. I just noticed the thread was about the FM band amp and I'm use to retuning the AM amps. I'd have to look for my crib notes as I've only dealt with one fixed...
