Is this the first wobble of an approaching death spiral?
See above. With what they are going to be making with the upcoming DTV Repack, they are poised to do very well. I don't forsee the death spiral coming anytime soon.

Re: GatesAir suspends AM TX sales (Radio World)

It's not going even be a financial blip on their radar, seeing the influx of cash Gates will be seeing from the upcoming television repack.

Re: Audio board EQ for newscasts

Agree with the last. Our Wheatstone board lets us do all sorts of EQ and dynamics processing on each channel, most of which is unused. In general, my experience has been that if you need substantial EQ for studio pickup, you're probably not using the most suitable mic for the job. Jeff In Rhode Isl...

Re: ~

Okay, this sure didn't go the way I had hoped. We got a new "member" posting his pitch for plagiarized school papers, and I foolishly replied. One of the board moderators deleted the original post, which left my reply as an even stranger post on its own with no context. I couldn't delete it, so I e...

Re: 1080i Conversion for Broadcast?

If the two devices are being used in a live shoot into a video switcher, you can use a simple cross converter. They range from a couple of hundred bucks to high end several thousand dollar models. For your money, especially if you are going into a switcher, you could get one of the Lynx boxes that d...

Re: Management ignored me when I suggested LPFM....

You can't. The limit is 100 milliwatts DC input power to the transmitter on AM and 250 uV/m at three meters field intensity on FM. That MS-15 will radiate more than that from the cabinet. Nuts - How bad is the Harris Micro Max in terms of incidental RF leakage? It can be dialed back to 1W in softwa...

Re: Band stop-Notch Filter suggestions

Contact Microwave Filter Corp out of Syracuse, NY.

They make and sell fantastic filters. (And yes, for UHF, VHF, etc. Despite the name, they aren't microwave only)

Re: Schematic Needed

I've gone to old analog "hi-fi" tuners off e-bay, both for off-air monitoring and EAS. Have to use a rack shelf (or sit them on top of something else) & out of the box I replace the filter caps. But they have the nice feature of coming back on after power failures tuned to the right station. Just b...

Does anyone have the software from Thales multiplexers ?

Thales Configuration and Supervision software

Thales was acquired by Thomson Broadcast and then I lost track, so no idea where to find it :?
My old station does. Let me get in contact with them, see if I can't get a copy of it.

Re: Connector suppliers....

I believe ERI owns Andrew, and the coax used by the cell industry is somewhat thinner. ERI only owns the broadcast transmission division. The microwave side is owned by CommScope. They may also be the ones making the coax/waveguide as well for them. The satellite side is owned by another company, w...

Re: Can´t receive sat freq over 11500 V or H

Hi! One thing you haven't mentioned is the size of your satellite antennas, and the style of the reflector. (Solid versus Mesh). A larger dish can have a narrower focus, that results in a higher gain. (And would be less prone to general noise). Although I am not 100% sure how the other offending sig...
