Northeast Allocations

So I have created a DTV page showing the post 2009 transition channels in New England, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Last week, with the help of DTV guru Doug Smith W9WI, I put the technical details of each allocation as well on a update I did last night. On each allocation I put the Post ...

Out in Albany NY you are seeing quite a few different channel useages. My station, we fire up our 2 sub channels on one of the channels, and the 3rd on the other and carry different march madness games during the season. So with a simple ATSC tuner, you get your choice of 4 different March Madness b...

Not divert off of the WCRY topic here, but we just lost a local AM signal, when WPEP 1570 in Taunton signed off. I am not sure what they were doing for a format. It isn't a very impressive tower site (just a standard small black tower about 150 feet or so down in marshes). Unfortunatley an AM everyo...

If money was no object, Id pay my car off, get a 62" plasma HDTV, my own AM/FM radio stations, and a new TV for my bedroom.

But sadly, money IS an object...

So I am only asking for a 2 foot step ladder, a couple of DVDs (Married with Children Season 7!), and a book or two...
Thats all really.

I was bustin' your chops! You have earned the title of "Honorary Broadcast Engineer"...you're one of us! ;) Which means dinner consists of those snack cracker things from the nearest convience store, waking up at 250am to reset the transmitter, never being able to get away from it, and loving the j...

Wireless connection help

OK I am still against a brick wall here. I am probably the only engineer who can't set up a WEP key correctly. Here is where I stand... I programmed in a 128bit 26 hex key, using all numbers (26 in a row). I put them into KEY 4, and setup Key 4 to be the default transmit key. I put the same into the...

My Milwaukee FM's have separate Aux sites. I also have ISDN at those sites, so that we can get on the air from anywhere. In Madison I'm planning an entirely separate studio at the site of our Class B. I'm a big fan of redundancy! After 9/11, anyone who isn't a fan of redundancy should not be in the...

Same here. Doubleclick was on my list a couple of years ago.
They are one of the shadyest internet ad companies on the market.

Plus when their servers went down, pages wouldn't load...

A Tandy 1000HX. A PC with no hard drive. Everything was stored on floppy disks. You had to boot into their cheesy desktop system. When we had got a newer PC, I took the 1000HX, which had a composite video output on the back, connected it with a tuner to a cable modulator I bought from Radio Shack, a...

They are indeed my friend. I do believe that WSNE now has a single bay ERI on that tower as an aux. It's a small investment that can pay huge yields down the road. There is an old Channel 10 antenna on the tower, I am surprised they didn't go at low power into it. While the difference is only 100MHz...

My old station was a beta tester for this , um, "system". It was horrific.
but when our Odetics TCS-2000 decided to crash and burn (was a CPU chip in the local controller)
it was nice to have a backup system for a day.

Needless to say it never stayed with us.

Good sounding HD stations

Name some of the HD stations you think just sound GOOOD. I dont mean the format, but the sound quality is just... well it amazes you how good it sounds. (And yes, you CAN count your own DOC =) ). A partial list... WKNE-FM Keene, NH WHYN-FM Springfield, MA WPKX-FM Springfield, MA WTIC-FM Hartford, CT...
