Re: Looking for help in the Florida panhandle
OK a couple of things from everything here. The obvious things (to me anyways). 1) The Orban has audio going into it. So the Barix is likely not the issue. 2) The Nicom NT30 exciter has an amber VDC LED on it. I don't know this unit well enough to know if that is a tri colored LED or not. But judgin...

Re: Looking for help in the Florida panhandle
Hello, first post on the forum. I am looking for an engineer to help troubleshoot a problem we are having with our FM radio station in Defuniak Springs, FL. I used to manage the station and we never had an engineer(very small station in a small town). We run Barix units that transfer our signal fro...

Ericcson (Mediakind) AVP as emergency encoder
So I am working on setting up a Ericcson (MediaKind) AVP platform as a a last resort emergency encoder for the transmitter. The older Tandberg (EN-8040?) had a mode where the encoder could operate stand-alone with static PSIP, and emulate a major/minor channel. I am not seeing that option on the AVP...

Re: Is my Rate too high or is the owner high?
I won't discuss what I actually charge per hour here, where I work, but it is very very close to the numbers both Mark and Dale mentioned, within $20. Because my work is strictly part time side work and I have a full time job, I really can't take on any retainers. I dropped one semi-national religio...

Re: DiaLight System Wierdness
Yup. Happened in Boston, on a four station FM master antenna tower. Dialight Gen 5, LED on top of a 120 foot narrow pole. Light kept on having failures, on a all to common basis. One of the local tower gurus installed a special screen around the inner part of the fixture to shield the electronics, a...

Re: optimod 2300 boots to blank screen
Do you know something I don't know, or do you just need some parts? Is it full of unobtanium IC's? I've yet to open it up and mess with it myself, not sure If I will. Either way If I decide I have no further use for it I'd be willing to help you out. Could be a fun side project to work on, but I ra...

Re: "Family Hears Music & Preaching Coming From Bedroom Walls"
Using the tools I use for Pirate radio research, I was able to find out the likely address. (Which will NOT be disclosed on this forum).
If the address is correct, it will be approx 1.3 miles from the night time array. The bearing would be more around 260° from the array.

Re: Oh those viewer calls...
One quick one.
Woman during the DTV transition, my old market at a VHF 6, DT 49. When the analog shut down happened, she went to radio shack and bought a "digital radio", so she could continue hearing channel 6 at "87.7", but couldn't figure out how to make it work...

Free version only records at low bit rates and lacks some other features...but if you don't need high-quality audio, can't beat free.
The paid version is about $45 US.

PC Aircheck Recorder
Any suggestions for an inexpensive, PC based audio aircheck recorder. It would need to be able to take a tally to start and stop. Right now our students use a Denon flash drive unit, which is somewhat kludgey, to do their airchecks. So I'd like to start looking for what the next level up would be....

Also the board settings would've prevented you from doing so too. Only admins/moderators can create posts in this forum. We just move the posts deemed to fit in this forum here.
