Re: Sick Harris MW-1

Obviously the voltage and current will be lower for anything below 1kw, but that magic ratio must still be maintained. The CD-ROM info and tech manual tell you how to bring it up slowly in incremental power settings. There's a lot of useful hints and tips in the CD-ROM info that's not in the tech m...

Re: Sick Harris MW-1

Thanks everyone! :D The "golden ratio" is indeed 2.3 to 1 volts to amps, or nominally 52 volts and 22.5 amps for 1000 watts. I have a manual, but I don't have the factory test sheets, unfortunately. This one was running ~14.5 amps and 42 volts at the time I looked at it which is definitely off. I'll...

Re: Using STL dish to share Lan link connection

The Loco M900 http://www.invictuswireless.com/Loco_M900_NS_LocoM900_by_Ubiquiti_p/locom900.htm You'll need an RP-SMA to N adapter, and you can get those for a couple of bucks on eBay. Thanks for the tip! We have a Starlink and LanLink combined into dishes, but we've also got a very short (2.25 mile...

Re: Sick Harris MW-1

There are some diodes up on the VSWR board behind the meters. They are prone to damage by lightning. When these blow, you'll get very similar symptoms. They form part of the negative feedback loop. The output power meter may also vary all over the place. The Harris - now GatesAir - web site has the...

Sick Harris MW-1

I have inherited a Harris MW-1A here that is having issues. The main symptom is distorted audio, but I note that power and PA amps are dropping under modulation, also RF driver amps are low. Reviewing the documentation points me toward a couple of possible issues: --RF driver tuning/loading are off ...

Re: Optimod 8100 Parts

I tried the usual suspects (DigiKey, Newark, Mouser, etc.) as well but no luck...inquiry has been sent to Sacks and to Orban factory. Thanks!

Optimod 8100 Parts

Got an Optimod that is missing IC603 which is an AH5011CN quad FET chip. Are these parts unobtanium or is there a currently made part that would make a decent substitute?

Re: How are you doing sports broadcasts?

I work with two stations that are covering high school sports. One is a Low Power FM that uses the Comrex Access system with the portable PDA-style unit on the road and the rack unit at the station. They generally use IP with a Verizon 4G hotspot or wi-fi if it's available at the venue. Before the C...

Re: Aphex Compellor Display/LED Issues

About a year ago I got to go through a station's former studio and grab what was left for the taking. Among the leftovers in the engineering area I picked up an older Aphex 320a manual. Yes, they do have the schematics in there. If you can find one you'd be good to go. If you can't the next time I'...

Aphex Compellor Display/LED Issues

I have a Compellor that has the "Dim LED Syndrome" where the panel LED's get dimmer as more of them are active. The audio processing still seems to be working fine.

Anyone got a schematic or service manual for one, or repair tips for fixing this issue? I figured I'd take a whack at repairing it.

Just a Compellor right now but I'm debating on changing things up.

Re: Anyone using other than Optimod or Omnia

Does the O3 have a separation setting like the 6EXi? I know you can adjust the amount of separation, which would cause the effect you're describing. You may want to make sure you have the latest software version for the three as well. I have two clients that use them, and I've never run into that p...

LANLink and other options

I'm looking at the LANLink and related 900 MHz ISM type options to get a data connection to a remote site. Can anyone give me a report of how well LANLink has worked? I think someone here was using a Tranzeo 902 over STL antennas...would that work well diplexed with a Starlink? I see Microwave Filte...

Re: Anyone using other than Optimod or Omnia

I'm curious about trying some of these new options along with the old standbys. I have been hearing lots of good things about Stereo Tool lately but there is part of me that is still a bit edgy about trusting mission critical audio to a PC, especially at a remote site. I have an Omnia-3 that is havi...
