Re: Geotargetting boosters "zonecasting" Geobroadcast solutions

I've had a booster for years. The first time we used a Tepco unit that dropped the signal from the receiver down to IF, and connected to the on-channel transmitter via a long cable. Receiver on one side of the ridge, antenna aimed towards the main station, booster antenna and booster on the other si...

Re: Elenos ETG 3500 transmitter questions?

Be careful with the little plug used on the interlock circuit. Piece of junk, I couldn't get it to tighten down on 22 gauge wire, finally just cut the factory jumper in half and soldered my interlock wire to the pigtails. I have an ETG-2000 I just got to replace an older BE used as a back-up, needed...

Re: Looking for a music scheduling program

We've used Natural Music for years. At around $700/buyout it may be expensive for your operation. Presently our main use is under a contract to maintain a non-com college station. The station has a mixture of classical and jazz programming, Natural Music allows multiple "stations" so the v...

Re: Marti frequency control module temperature

Don't remember what the equipment was, but I remember using a Christmas tree bulb to replace a failed heater in some kind of STL transmitter.

Worked fine even though the equipment rack was in an unheated room.

Re: AM Mast Height?

From everything I've read a 1/4 wave tower (in this case 420 feet) seems to be a "sweet spot" in terms of matching, efficiency, and cost vs coverage considerations. There may be other considerations limiting the tower to 300 feet (air traffic, land area, etc.) but the difference between 30...

Re: 0 Card - Optimod 8100A/XT2 combo?

ftp://ftp.orban.com/ for 8100 a manual, memory is it has info on the XT as well

The point of the zero card was to provide better filtering above 15 KHZ., and achieve more loudness.

Re: Small and robust sound card. Recommendation?

Refurbished Dell towers are available at a reasonable cost..some actually have IDE slots as well as the current PCI-e slot. All have room for full-sized sound cards. I would add a back-up external hard drive to be safe, but I've usually gotten good life from these refurbed computers. Amazon sells a ...

We use the little Lexicon Alphas on our "streaming" computers (they actually send the audio to the streaming service)--but have been plagued by weirdness mostly caused by Microsoft updates. The Lexicon will just stop working, not recognized by the computer. Usual solution is to just change...

Re: Looking for a list of 24/7 Satellite Programming for Radio - News or Sports or Business or otherwise

Well, for entertainment (I assume music programming) the Westwood One networks (for the most part) use the Wegener satellite receivers with the STORQ system that is pretty much self-contained. The automation system is part of the receiver--it can send a relay contact to trigger an external automatio...

Little Bext 30 watt exciter, about 20 watts in, a whole bunch back.

Looks like transmitter needs new finals, will probably play some more when the finals are changed.

Re: Disabling Windows Features Updates

Nothing like getting a silence sense alert in the middle of the night, only to find a Windows update has uninstalled your sound card. Yes, I know, not supposed to have the air computer on the internet. But with three stations--sound to be four, two studio locations, and staff scattered all over...es...

Re: Quality translator

At my one site the BW is on 107.9, while the full power is on 93.9--at 17 kw erp off a 4 bay. The BW won't make power reliably--folds back. The VS300 comfortably made the required power--but didn't have a processor available to use the internet feed so had to go off-air with a weak signal. We're buy...

Re: Suggestions for FM Tuner

More I review this discussion--cheapest (though not that cheap) solution is: A: buy a good quality FM tuner off E-bay--particulary a high-end brand with slide rule tuning (so it stays tuned during power outages)--and use that for the air monitor, and B: Pickup a used Inovonics mod monitor. It's self...
