Re: Stupid RDS question...

Have used the earlier version of this Inovonics "mini RDS" with just that configuration. Worked just fine.

Re: Stupid RDS question...

To clarify, you need to check any RDS geni you plan to buy to be sure it does not need either a 19 khz. signal or composite stereo signal. Many RDS geni simply multiply the pilot to create the 57 khz RDS subcarrier. The more expensive Inovonics units, (for example) don't need this external signal to...

Re: VOIP in the newsroom

Would be a nice alternative...but an inexpensive improvement to your present set-up is to put in an EQ on the output of the hybrids. I have a half-dozen of the inexpensive ART 31 band equalizers scattered around for this purpose--run a little above $100.

Very useful for phone lines with hum.

Re: AVR for Flexiva FAX20k

Helped install a Flexiva 5. Couldn't get it to work, despite following to the letter the single phase connection diagram in the manual. Seems the diagram was for a 440 volt system.

Re: FM Stl - Composite or Mono?

Digital STLS can be very fussy, and don't like any kind of interference. Besides being expensive. A pair of good reconditioned STL-10's would be the best option, a system can be put together for about $10,000. We've used them over a 25 miles path with rock solid signals. Since you are now using a lo...

Re: Need to split audition out on console.

Look at E-bay--search audio distribution amplifier. Gentner, Audiometrics, ATI show up, all would work for your purpose.

Advantage of the DA is that you can set the output level for each piece of equipment you are driving.

Re: Mysterious beep

Yes, we've notice some exchange to exchange calls--which are local--now have a slight delay, indicating the copper path has gone away.

Makes sense, especially on ball games, where you have higher levels than normal conversation, plus crowd noise.

Mysterious beep

Posted this on another message board--other folks have heard this but no-one seems to have an explanation. We do a number of football broadcasts this time of year--many over either our own phone lines or cell (since some locations have no lines to the football fields. Tonight we have three games on ...

Re: Locating Source of High VSWR

What kind of transmitter? I've noticed high VSWR indications on the RVR meters (and Bext/Armstrong/Energy-Onix clones) where an outboard Bird wattmeter showed normal readings.

How high is the tower...or put another way, how much of a coax run are we talking about?

Re: Height v.s. Power LPFM

Also expense. Are you talking about putting an antenna up 400' on a tower? Then you have the expense of, say 400 feet or so of 1/2" coax, plus the expense of paying someone to hand the feed line and an antenna. Or is this site 400' above average? This may, or may not work. 1. Can you see all of the ...

Looks like the search functions and the various programs (e.g AHAAT, contour, etc.) all work. CDBS log in is not accessible.

Re: RF interfearence

When we built our small block building for a Class A station, we put chicken wire inside the block wall, grounded it, then covered with drywall or plywood (one room was originally to be a transmitter room). Thirty years later, despite upping ERP from 3 kw to 17 kw, we have very few RF problems.
