Re: Rivendell Radio Automaiton

It's always interesting to hear about stations that have Station Playlist or Simian problems and have come to the conclusion their problems revolve around Windows reliability. Maybe the odds have worked in my favor, but I have nearly zero problems with Windows. I have Simian installations, running u...

Re: Simian Red Lines 1ea Log Entry When Logging in Via TeamViewer

I generally use VNC and Team Viewer. Each has its strengths. The main issue with VNC is that, unless you have its computer on its own static IP, you have to clear a path to it with port forwarding. That means you need access to your router, which not everyone is comfortable with and which some ISPs ...

Re: Simian Red Lines 1ea Log Entry When Logging in Via TeamViewer

I have 3 stations using XP, and the versions that Team Viewer makes available won't load on any of their computers. Team viewer does get along well with Simian on any 7 & up install I've done.

You might have to try VNC or see if something like Logmein might work.

Re: Possessed Barix 500 Reboots Itself

Generally, turning off the IP readout would only be risky if you have the network settings on DHCP. Even then, you could find the box by looking up the connected device table in your router. That said, this is a strange one. You've done everything I've heard be recommended in a case like this. About...

Re: Barix levels

The bargraph on the instreamer is a good indicator of how it sees your levels. If your -10 is hitting the last red dot, you've run out of bits. Your ideal level into the Barix will depend on whether you have any AGC/limiting before it. If you do, you can go right up to the red, though, given the dec...

Re: Simian or Station Playlist?

With all due respect, there is no reliability issue with Simian. I've used Simian in single and multiple-instance modes for close to 20 years. The early versions had some issues with the multi-instance configuration, but I worked with BSI and those problems were soon resolved. Since then, any issues...

Re: Optimod 9100B/2 Refurb

I hear there are a couple of other shops that have Bob Orban's blessing, when it comes to the inner workings of the Optimod. In practicality though, I only know about the Sacks' operation, having used them a couple of times. Kim is fully qualified to do this work should she choose to continue the ef...

Re: Translator ID Options

A couple of years back, I had a client receive a NOV over this issue. The inspector alleged the client translator was not doing any IDs. because he could not hear them. The client's attorney sent back a reply, referencing the rule that included FSK identification, pointed out the client uses it and ...

5kW Power Rock Manual?

Looking for a PDF of the Continental 315R-1, 5kW "Power Rock". I have hard copies, but carry a lot of my clients' manuals on my laptop & prefer to keep the books on the shelf for "real" problems.

Haven't been able to search one out, so thought I'd try here.

Thanks.

Re: Telos AA Encoder w/Shoucast, Possible?

Most of my client stations use Barix Instreamers. They're compatible with Shoutcast/Icecast, are fully hardware and aren't all that expensive. They can also stream to more than one server, so long as you set them up with the same password.

Re: Collins Power Rock Audio Hum??

I have two in service myself. One is a daytime primary & runs great. The other is a standby I just brought back from a 13-year slumber. It works well enough, but has a couple of issues I need to work out... one of which may be the same hum Radioman is dealing with. Based on the frequency, I'm thinki...
