Gummy Pinch Rollers

Post by BingNYEng » Tue Aug 28, 2012 6:27 am

I'm working on dubbing my collection of reel to reel tapes into my computer. I've discovered that the pinch roller on my Tascam 32 has become gummy. A spare NOS pinch roller that I had on hand is also breaking down the same way. Tascam doesn't appear to stock these anymore, and the only ones I see on eBay are in Germany. Does anyone know of another source, or someone who can remanufacture my pinch rollers?

Years ago we used to use printers platen cleaner from printing press suppliers. Not sure if that will help you or not, or even where I'd go to find dome today.

Terry's Rubber Rollers is reliable and makes your pinch rollers like new. And they do lots of Tascam rollers. Will cost you $40-$50 to get done. Ed Crockett also rebuilds pinch rollers.
