Bauer 707 Repurpose/Restoration

Post by ka4koe »

Almost a year ago, I posted about the 707 I acquired. It is now working on 75m AM. I still have a few minor issues that need to be addressed. I will post a video later. The transmitter was last used at WXPE, Starke, Florida, and sat for at least 10 years unused.

Look forward to seeing that.

There are a couple of 707s on the east side of our state (Washington) that are looking for similar accommodations.

My Dad worked at that station in 1964! Best I remember the transmitter back then was a 250 watt Collins with a Shunt fed antenna.

I have a 707 in the garage waiting on restoration.

I'm adding a vacuum loading capacitor and a band switch.

These Bauer transmitters are one of the lighter ( weight ) 4-400 rigs, and I think, one of the best for 160 / 80 /40 .
