New Weather Station

Post by BroadcastDoc » Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:13 pm

I just inherited an Oregon Scientific WMR100 weather station. It's pretty dang cool! I'm now streaming live weather...

Updated every three seconds:

Updated every five minutes:

I love geeky stuff...

You "inherited" a WIRELESS???

I have a wired Oregon. Working on an old laptop to run it off of.

I am always getting out-geed :(

My Chief in Madison got himself a new Davis system, so he passed along the Oregon Scientific to me, figuring that it would not only go to a good home, but that I would also proceed to completely geek out.

He was correct on all counts! :)

Yeah, I had a real basic one that didn't stream data. I used a screen capture program to take screen shots of the current data and upload that. This one actually streams data.

OH OHHHHH, I am thinking that we need to have an area on this site that has all of our weather stations steaming live info. 8)

You're so transparent. Why don't you just come out and say "so I can brag about how nice my weather is..."

Besides, do you even have weather out there? It's always sunny and 72 out there! :D

Anyway, you get a pass this time. Being the geek that you are, I am not surprised to hear that you hadn't thought of that angle... ;)

Cheers to the hard work with the new weather station.

Jeers to using it with wunderground. I hate that site. Forget the fact theyre using the name of William Ayer's terrorist orginization for their website, which is pretty dumb, but the flash ads and such, so just blech on that.

But the cheers outweight the jeers here, good job with that Doc.

I don't mind Weather Underground...I pay the $10/year to not see the ads. Until I can find a better "real-time" data site I'll stick with 'em. It is a lot of fun tweaking everything, that's for sure. I'd like to think I'm providing a decent service, since I live in a small town. There are two other personal weather stations in the area, but mine is the only one inside the village limits. Now if you do a search for weather in my zip (53149) on wunderground, my data shows up first.

Now the pressure's on to keep it live and maintained! :)

It's the Engineer in me...it's not worth doing if you can't do it right!
