Hi all. About a week ago my laptop, HP DV6 6024TX, started playing up. Windows cannot find the Wifi, ethernet, USB or sound card. They appear in device manager but that tells me the it can't install the device driver. It is missing or corrupt. When I try using the "add new hardware" wizard it just sits there doing nothing.
I have tried running AVG and Avast virus killers, Malwarebytes, Ccleaner and a few other programs. They found a few adware and Trojans and cleaned them.
I thought it might have been a hardware issue but I tried the HDD in another laptop and that had the same problem.
Can some one please give me an idea of where to go next.

Re: Wifi, USB and sound card disabled
did you try deleting/removing the devices, and then rebooting so Windows can try to load the drivers again?
Otherwise, look for malware that looks like legit anti-virus or storage/cloud programs. Rocket Tab is a POS. Remove them.

Quite honestly, with all the effort you're going to make to try and troubleshoot this serious of an issue, you're almost better off "wiping" the machine clean and doing a fresh install of Windows.

The operating system on that DV6 wouldn't happen to be Windows Vista 64 bit, would it?

My usual "quick fix" is to boot in safe mode, run CCleaner and CleanUp!, then run Malwarebytes, Spybot Portable and SuperAntiSpyware. If that doesn't bring things back you'd be better off as NECRAT suggests and just do a fresh load. Once I load a system and run all the requisite updates I use a program such as Norton Ghost to make a backup image. Then in the future when the machine gets trashed I just restore from the image, perform current updates and make an updated image.

Don't do much with Winders anymore, but as others have said. At this point, if booting into safe mode and throwing the various cleaners at it does not resolve the issue, then it is time for a nuke and pave.
