External hard drive

Post by rich wood »

Howdy,
I have an Iomega external hard drive that is not booting up,, USB connected. I have tried freezing and heating the unit up with no success on reviving it. Any ideas, other than use a hammer on it then toss?
Thanks.

Not sure in your case, but I had an external USB hard drive that wouldn't work. I didn't want to just lose anything on it, and I took a chance and bought another USB to SATA (also did IDE) controller for about 20 bucks and got my drive back.

Pretty unusual for me to find a thread inhabited only by people I have actually met and worked with! Merry Christmas, guys!

I have a collection of various adapters and associated power supplies that I use to intimidate failing hard drives into coughing up the data before they die completely. They're inexpensive and very handy to have.

I carry one USB adapter that can handle any type of drive that I am likely to encounter in the field. It has replaced an assortment of adapters akin to what Deep has.
