SmartCaster Systems help.

Post by knoxbob » Tue Jul 02, 2019 6:13 pm

A station near me is asking for some help with their Smart Caster System. Does anyone know of any online manuals or videos for it?
I am not sure of how old the system is or when it was updated last. Possible early 90's .

Thanks in advance;

Bob

Here you'll find manuals for the current Skylla product and the older Smartcaster 2002 product that merged the DOS Smartcaster program with On Air Digital's RS-HD Linux-based audio playout...the Smartcaster software runs in a DOS emulation window within Linux. If your friend is still running anything older, it's time to do something else.

Thanks everyone. I downloaded the handbook from the web page. Hopefully it will help. And yes their system is way old, 90's something. I have told them in the past to upgrade to something newer but you can only lead a horse to water......

Thanks again;

Bob

I have a RF client that is still running a version that predates me... Probably early 90's in what looks like DOS. I have never had to touch it since a guy at the station is intimately familiar with it and keeps it limping along.

One of my clients has two DOS Smartcaster chassis sitting in the basement, awaiting a trip to the recyclers. It looks like they might have been touched by water.

If you have any issues call Smarts. They are really good at support, even for these old relics.
