Tunetracker automation.
I just ran across their web site and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences to pass along.

Re: Tunetracker automation.
Two problems:
(1) They hide their physical address. This sets off all sorts of alarms and raises red flags with me. I want to know who I am dealing with.
(2) "TuneTracker Systems is a Christian-owned company, and we do not wish to sell systems to stations that promote witchcraft, new age philosophy, or perversion. If that is your intention, please do not purchase our products or request support for them." While I don't really care about anyone's religion, the automation supplier has no business dictating what programming it is used for. This just shouts "TROUBLE" should your station somehow offend someone in power there.
Pass.

They are based in Wisconsin. I want to find out more on the operating system BeOS. The web site says you can duel boot it with the Apple OS which I would like to use instead of a Windows based PC.

Re: Tunetracker automation.
Mac on BeOS = Windows PC on BeOS. It's the same Intel hardware these days. BeOS originally ran on a PowerPC platform and could dual boot on a PPC Mac but that was years ago, which also happens to be when BeOS was discontinued as a commercial product. The open source version of "BeOS" out there today (Haiku) is not the same code base.

Tunetracker is located in Oconto, WI. If you google the phone number, you can find name, address and ph. number.

Re: Tunetracker automation.
You bring up a point that just drives me into mental lockup!!!! I just fail to comprehend how these guys that write web sites think that you don't need an address, phone number and a contact name.
Oh boy, there I go, getting steamed up again. I pretty well refuse to do business with companies that don't have the smarts to provide this kind of information. Guess that's why they call me fossil. I must be still in the dark ages. But I do see a light at the end of the tunnel-----then it hit me.

Re: Tunetracker automation.
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
Re: Tunetracker automation.
Local high school station had tune tracker.
1. They insisted on selling complete systems--hardware and software. Hardware overpriced, not very good.
2. Service provided only if you paid
3. Software never quite ran right.
The school replaced Tunetracker with a Simian system. Very happy with Simian.

An excellent outlook, Deep. :-)
Re: Tunetracker automation.
Thank you all for your insight.
Re: Tunetracker automation.
Don't recommend them due to attitude and lack of candor about providing an address and contact persons for support, raises a red flag.
Re: Tunetracker automation.
Just signed in to thank you guys for your comments, which we've taken to heart. I can see why it would look odd not to have an address posted, and frankly, it was just an oversight. Due to our web-centric approach, all our correspondence has just naturally been by phone and Internet, but it's a totally valid point that our address should be up there prominently, as much to reassure customers as to provide them with a way to write a good old fashioned snail mail letter if they want to. Love the quote about malice and stupidity. Attribute it to stupidity rather than malice in this instance. So because of your comments here, we've put a nice clear address at the top of our Contact page, and we'll also be changing the "E-mail Us" link in our top banner to say "Contact Us."
Also wanted to alert you to some new developments at TuneTracker Systems. May 1st we just released TuneTracker System 5, and it runs under the new Haiku operating system, which is the open-source replacement for BeOS. Unlike BeOS, where we heartily recommended our own propriety computers because of the limited hardware supported by the OS, there's a lot of hardware that can run Haiku, so now we're equally happy selling software-only or one of our "Station-in-a-Box" packages. Here are a few pages where you can read up on it.

Regarding some of the other posts here, there are some inaccuracies, but I'm not going to pick them apart. Just realize some of it's second hand info and there are a few "facts not in evidence." I'd encourage you to look into the system yourself and draw your own conclusions. Above all, I just want to assure you we're totally on the up-and-up, and do genuinely care about doing things right and taking care of people. Happy to follow-up here in the forum if there are any other questions or concerns. In addition, my contact information is below in case you would like to call, and also feel free to hit our newly-updated contact page if you want to e-mail.
