Fm Receiver Test

Post by sambo521 » Tue Dec 15, 2015 4:34 pm

Quick question, Google is not very helpful here.
How do you perform a 50Db quieting measurement on an FM receiver?
I am familiar with 20 DB quieting and 12 Db Sinad measurements that were used in 2 Way communications receivers but not that familiar with Broadcast receiver measurements.

Do it the same way as the 20 dB quieting test - start with no signal and measure the noise level at the receiver output. Feed signal from a standard signal generator (such as a General Radio Type 1021-AV for the FM broadcast band) and adjust its output for a receiver noise output 50 dB below the initial measurement.

Note - it is dB, not Db or DB.
