The AMC-18 replacement satellite was successfully launched by Space-X yesterday evening (10/11).
The C-band portion of it will be known as "SES-11". Reportedly it will be placed into service in late November. Typically the operator will switch from the old to the new bird in the middle of the night, and there is a fairly brief interruption in downlink.
It will be interesting to see what happens when they switch on SES-11, and if there is any effect on all the marginal radio station dishes out there. I will be watching our EB/NO indications to see if anything changes.

Re: Offical AMC 8 Transition Thread (was Sat. AMC-8)
I'll have to ask the one place I moved what it does. I was able to get about 11.5 on Westwood and a screaming >15 on Premiere after the move. Their Westwood was doing a 9.3 before moving, I think there may have been a tree slowly growing into the view of the dish, so the move was probably a good thing.

Just got word from NBC that AMC18 transponder 4C will be transitioned to SES11 on November 28 at 3:20am ET. I would expect the radio networks will move around the same time.

It appears from my receiver logs the switch was made this morning...around 3:09AM EST for Westwood One and 6:09 AM EST for Premiere. I am getting about a DB or so better E/B on Westwood (12.8 is up to 14). Premiere was already maxed out at 15+. Curious to see if anyone else noticed. Using a 3.8 meter Comtech dish.
