Realistic Service Manual Request

Post by NECRAT » Tue Apr 24, 2018 5:11 pm

So I have an old Realistic STA 12, that I love and don't want to part with. One of the giant filter caps decided to give up the ghost.
(16v 3300uf, Mouser part cheap). But I want to shot gun all the caps while I have it apart, and having a schematic or service manual would make that job so much easier. So I was just curious, as Google hasn't been my friend on this, if someone in this group had one of these beauties, and possibly still have any documentation I can work off of.

Surprised me when I couldn't find it on SAMS website - I got the service manuals for both of my 70s vintage Zenith consoles from there... that said, if the STA-12 was sold in Canada, I was working at an Intertan repair depot around the time it was being sold. Let me hook up with the guy who did all of our stereo repairs back then and see if he managed to salvage any of his manuals when they shut the depot down around 93 or 94.

One of the things I really miss about the "old" Radio Shack was their "faxback" service for things like this, as well as the local repair depot which was about 10 miles from my office. You could get pretty much any documentation you needed for anything they sold just for the asking.

I didn't have any luck with my google-fu either.

Did you try googling using the Rat Shack part number for the unit itself? Many times I stumble across service manuals using that method instead of the model name.

I tried both (31-1965 is the SKU).

And it doesn't help that their support web site (support.radioshack.com) is not responding.

I looked in my archives and I only have a manual for the STA7 if you think that might be of some help.
