QEI Quantum E transmitter

Post by TPT » Thu Nov 07, 2019 8:03 am

Looking for information on dip switch settings for the exciter portion. Unit works, makes power, 100 watt transmitter.

This transmitter has a separate power supply , about 3 RU, connected to the transmitter part by thick cable, which is also about 3 RU. The exciter portion is on the underside of the transmitter, single DIP switch, bunch of IC's.

It looks like QEI still supports the E-series. Have you tried contacting them for a manual? https://qei-rf.com/legacy-broadcast-transmitters/

I remember having to tweak up the amplifier tuning in that after changing frequency. It's only sorta- agile.

Also make sure your tetanus shot is current before poking inside. Lots of sharp edges inside. Not the most pleasant transmitter to repair.

So true! Those sharp aluminum edges were so much fun in a QEI tube transmitter PA cavity. Lot's of great places for high voltage to arc to ground.
