Can anyone please recommend a small FM clock radio that has the best blanketing protection? I know the Grundig models are good for other posts but I don't see that they make a table top clock radio.
Thanks

FM Clock Radio with good blanketing protection recommendation
Re: FM Clock Radio with good blanketing protection recommendation
What's the complaining person using now, and what is the form of interference?

There is no clock radio ever built that has those qualities. Get a good radio and connect a radio shack timer to it.

The little Grundig G-8 traveler is reasonably selective, and has an alarm function. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, then you have a nice portable.

The Sony HD radios are a clock radio and they were excellent, having the same tuner as the Sony XDR-F1HD tuner. The models were the XDR-S3HD and the XDR-S10HDIP. They are no longer made, but they show up on Ebay all the time. The Sony FM tuner in these radios is one of the best I have ever heard for sensitivity and selectivity.

Does Sony ever make anything long enough for someone to buy it new? Are all the used items only used by factory personnel and then put on the used market? Are they just sold new overseas and you can then get them here used?

Re: FM Clock Radio with good blanketing protection recommendation
Thanks for all the good suggestions. The person that complained is actually outside of the official FCC blanketing contour limit and is using a clock radio (not sure what kind). I've ordered the Grundig and Sony that was suggested. I've also collected about six other low cost models (GE, Sylvania, etc) and plan to compare the performance (side by side) this weekend. I'll post the results.

Re: FM Clock Radio with good blanketing protection recommendation
We tested seven table top type radios for 3rd adjacent rejection. The source is a 100 watt LPFM with a 2 bay 0.5 spaced antenna at 100 ft height.
The radios were about 100 ft away from the antenna support.
The results were surprising:
Excellent Rejection:
Sony XDR510 HD
Insignia NS-CLOPP-2 (from Best Buy $30)
Moderate Rejection:
Nelsonic NLC014
Poor Rejection:
Grundig S350
RCA RC142D
Sylvania SCR1986
Memorex MC5431
I was surprised that the Grundig did not show better results and that the low cost Insignia performed so well. The Sony is a high end unit that also has HD capability.
I thought I'd pass this along. This was not a very scientific test, just our observations.
Thanks for all the good suggestions
