Hi yall,
Tube Question:
What is the difference between a 3CPX1500A7 (YC-257) and 3CX1500A7 (8877) Are they both the same, and can they be used in a RF amplifier for FM. Thanks.

Re: Tube question for the experts
As I recall, the P is a version with higher plate voltage capability and maybe a little higher freq operation. I recall that the ceramic insulator is a little taller and anode is a little squattier. CCA FM10000's used a 3CX800 driver. Dick (Grose?) down at D&C Electronics (now part of Richardson) recommended the P version and to crank the driver plate up. I did so on 2 different TX's and seemed to get better driver tube life. Of course the final was still that awful 3CX6000 (YU148).musiconradio.com wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 11:34 amWhat is the difference between a 3CPX1500A7 (YC-257) and 3CX1500A7 (8877) Are they both the same, and can they be used in a RF amplifier for FM. I have no idea if there are any advantages in the 1500.
