They ended up selling us an HT30/35 IPA Power Supply retrofit kit that might work for $1200. I'm happy to report that she's been happy ever since... but this transmitter is less than a decade old and they won't support it? How ridiculous is that!
$1200? Is it gold plated and capable of doing your taxes too?

What is the make and model of the original power supply? It shouldn't be too difficult to fix I'd imagine..

Thanks for pointing that out, Mark. So it was $1200 in November. Looked up the invoice. It was $2300+ in December. Difference being, perhaps in part giving them the benefit of the doubt, they were selling us the p.s. as the actual direct replacement for our HT-35 as opposed to a kluge for an HT-20. Not sure why that should make an $1100 difference or any difference, really, unless prices went up for Christmas.

Most of the guys on this list are taking care of multiple stations and transmitter sites. Who has the time to repair a power supply when it should be a board swap?
At the prices mentioned, I would also take a stab at trying to repair the supply. That is, of course, if the sales department can get by a few hours without a printer or Java issue...

I went and looked at old emails, and we did actually pay $2300 plus shipping. Must have had a brain fart writing that other post, or I was confusing it with something else we bought. Sorry for that.

The good news Shane, you were not gouged!

Is there a possibility the PS schematic is available...in the manual. For $2300, I would certainly look into field repair. Likely a bad cap or something easy to swap out. You can buy a lot parts for $2300 and bring back to life a spare.

The above not withstanding, there are a lot of unitary PS's out there which can't be field serviced. So...YMMV greatly.

And never forget your good friends Google and Ebay. While neither may offer over night shipping, they are around 24/7. I can't tell you how many unobtainum PS's and parts I've found spending 15 minutes looking at both.

Unfortunately, Gates seems to be the shell it used to be. I have sent two Power Modules for a DAX3 in for repair on two different occasions. The first one took a month to get back repaired. The second module they lost in the factory and said they didn't receive it. Fortunately, FedEx had a record of who signed for it at the factory. That ended that nonsense.
