Whoa! That is quite a bit of ice! It looks like a southern ice storm not something up north!

Yep - and that's the problem! We never see ice like that up here so generally the infrastructure (antenna mounts, etc) isn't designed with that in mind. You'd be surprised how many two-way antennas have flopped right over under the load.

Looks like they beefed up the guys to the tower when it was rebuilt in the '90s. Any idea how close to max loading it is (without ice, that is)?

About 90%, but keep in mind that is 90% of a pretty beefy design. We've added a few things over the years (some cams and antennas for TV) and it's only added about 1% to that total.
