Digital "white boards"/noticeboard?

Post by waveguide » Mon May 16, 2016 1:53 pm

I'm looking at replacing the old ugly whiteboard in studio with a PC based system, running over KVM extenders while running off a server.

Basically it just needs to scroll between a couple of pages of text, allowing different colours and fonts.
I know notepad, word and powerpoint will kind of do this, but I want it to be a standalone program - that the PD can access in the rack room - and something that looks nice.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Im sure there's something out there - maybe aimed at the retail market?

They call this "digital signage".

If your needs are small then there are NEC LCD panels available with the free version of their software I've forgotten the name of.

There is an open source solution, Xibo, which is very good and the price is right. Will run very nicely on on old windows PC.

If you google, you can find ways to spend enough money to equip a full size FM station on digital signage!
