GR EAS-1/CAP-DEC-1 issues
I take care of two groups that utilize Gorman/Redlich EAS equipment. I was just filing Form Three for the recent NPT, and while reviewing the logs, noticed that these boxes did not process any alerts from the internet via IPAWS. I have not checked the CAP-DEC-1 unit logs, but the test was not processed or logged on the EAS-1 boxes.
I have spent several minutes on the phone in the past working with Jim Gorman on the configuration of this equipment. Both of the CAP-DEC units have been sent back for upgrades in the last 12 months. We have V9.8 firmware in the EAS-1 units, with CAP support enabled, and the CAP-DEC units connected to input #6.
Just curious if anyone else out there is attempting to use this equipment. If so, what was your experience during the recent NPT?
All of my other stations use the Sage blue box...smooth sailing!
Thanks,
Kevin

Re: GR EAS-1/CAP-DEC-1 issues
I have one client with a GR EAS and CAP adapter and it seems to be ignoring the internet transported tests as well. It was recently updated and repaired by another area engineer and after finding it not working again I followed up with a call to Jim to confirm programming. He had me change several items but it still hasn't received an IPAWS test. I have also found that I receive test/setup messages from it but never receive any other notifications.
Most of my other units are Sage with 3 DASDEC's thrown in for good measure. As far as I know, they all received the IPAWS NPT but today 2 of 9 that I directly monitor missed the IPAWS RWT.

Yesterday's weekly CAP test apparently failed when it was first sent around 11--some folks reporting strange error messages. Test was later resent around 2:00 Eastern, seemed OK that time.

My units that received it got it at about 2c. The GR hasn't sent a notification and the 2 Sages missed it. Nothing in their logs for yesterday's test. It could have been an internet issue as both are in the same town although I don't have an IPAWS down/up notification either.

The Sage web interface can tell you if IPAWS is visible.I don't have an IPAWS down/up notification either.

IPAWS is (and apparently was) up and there isn't the usual down/up log entry but also no entry of test received at 2pm. There are numerous other IPAWS tests received over the past few weeks so they have been working normally but just missed this test for some reason.

Also make sure you sign up for the IPAWS Email Digest. They will send a notification when a test is missed or an error has occurred on their end. It's very handy.

Where do you sign up? My google-foo isn't working on finding a signup page.
I am signed up on the sbe-eas reflector but the failure wasn't mentioned there.
