I am a broadcast technologist working with a product manufacturer, and I recently moved into a role working with a new development team. I am an old-school HW and spec dev tech, and I am now working with streaming and cloud content. Right now, I can only really provide meaningful testing using standard broadcast test equipment, looking at things like SDI, PCM and non-PCM audio (embedded and discrete) and embedded ANC data (CC, LTC, etc.).
I am wondering if there are any tools or services available that would allow me to verify these things WITHOUT needing to convert everything back into baseband SDI? I know with MPEG-encoded streams you could do QoS/QoP type testing instead of looking at CRCs or DBNs, but with things like WebRTC, NDI or SRT, I am not sure what testing or test applications are available, or even meaningful to look at.
Am I in the deep weeds here? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
