Miranda iControl

More channels means more money for the techs, right?

Miranda iControl

Post by Nathaniel Steele »

I have some second hand Miranda Gear, Densite frames and cards. IS it possible to obtain iControl somehow? was it free with the gear or was it a paid option. Everything Miranda related seems to have dissapeared into a Grass Valley black hole....

I mostly need to get an HDC1861 working to generate an SD Composite output from HD-SDI 1080i input...does this work automatically? is there any other way to control these cards? do the RCP panels work without iControl? Should I just give Up? Budget is next to non existent and I have this gear already.

Thanks From a mostly Radio Engineer that tries to mess with TV every so often....

Ever since GV took over Miranda, it's been a bit tougher to access support documents. iControl is not free. It's good if you are running several frames of gear, but the cards can also be controlled from the frame itself.
I've posted the HDC-1861 manual here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bkdwkq61cjt4m ... 1.pdf?dl=0

That card, depending on which backplane it is paired with, can either give you:
4 copies of your HD-SDI input, 2 SD downconverts, and 3 analog composite copies
or
2x HD-SDI, 2 SDI and 2 analogs, plus demuxed analog audio, if the card has the audio option. The front panel can tell you that as well.

The manual explains it all, and how to navigate from the front panel.

Good luck with it!

Great! Don’t forget you can customize the downconverted outputs to be centercut, letterboxed or anamorphic.
It’s a fairly powerful card for its size and age!

Do you know if the Remote control panels (RCP-100, RC{-200) work without the iControl server? they come up on eBay fairly cheaply sometimes.

I have no experience with the RCP products, but I dug up a manual online (for the 100) and it says it is compatible with the Densite series.

I'm stumped. Miranda uses those on your HDC card, on the back of the Densite frame's controller, and on their SCO and HCO series of changeover switches. I never liked them because I've seen them come dislodged.
It might require a call to GV. I have never seen them used elsewhere. Sorry.

Close examination reveals WECO stamped on the connector. and google saved me this time, it appears it is a WECO 930-HFL

Availible from allied
