Rivendell Music metadata

Post by TvRadioGuy » Tue Feb 07, 2017 11:52 pm

Does anyone have Rivendell with the music metadata running. I have configure the now an next service and I can't get the thing to run. I have set it up like the wiki but no dice. I am trying to get the service to be read by a windows computer that will get the Metadata info being sent by Rivendell.
If any on has any suggestion pleas post them.

I've found Rivendell to be very configurable for the export of metadata.

First question would be how do you want the data to get from your Rivendell to your Windows computer?
Serial cable?
UDP over the network?
A text file written over a network to a share drive?
A text file written on the Rivendell machine and read by the Windows machine?

Let me know a bit what kind of output you want and it will be much easier for me to give some specific directions.

Hey guys!

I cannot seem to get metadata running using the built-in module for Shoutcast. I am using their server, not my own.

I have the rlm_shoutcast1.conf file specified in the module arguments.

Question though... My stream tcp port is 8000 and I would assume this would be the same as well as the password should match my stream password, correct?

I also tried setting up outputting a text file for now next data, and that is not working either.

Any pointers?

Were you able to get the text file working? I am also having the same issue and can't seem to figure out why it is not writing the data to a text file.

It has been a while since I used rivendell, but I helped someone with similar issues over the phone last week so here goes.

The wiki is not always best.....often conflicting or outdated info. Currently the rlm is the way to do it. You will need a .conf file for shoutcast, on my friends system it was not present where it should have been so we google searched and found a forum post to copy one.

on shoutcast I seem to recall something about using the port +1 so 8001. password should be the same IIRC.

For text files Check your permissions, 80% of my problems using rivendell was due to Linux permissions issues. make sure the user that rivendell runs as has the proper permissions to write in the directory.
