E-skip 7/27
Pretty good opening East Coast to Midwest...heard a couple of K-calls driving home near Raleigh, including KEZO Omaha.
Re: E-skip 7/27
Heard a few signals on the car radio while driving from work to the gym, about a half-hour ride through West Nashville & Bellevue.
- 88.5 religious
- 91.9 two stations, one rock
- 92.3 KQRQ Rapid City, South Dakota (legal ID @ 6pm CT)
- 92.7
- 93.1 country, probably KRCS Sturgis
- 93.5
- 93.9 "93.9 The Mix" RDS, almost certainly KKMK Rapid City
Note that I have locals on 92.1 (Class A) and 92.9 (Class C and only five miles from where I heard the 92.7 & 93.1 signals!)
Tried to remote in to the SDR in the hamshack & start a recording. Unfortunately, I haven't used it for a few weeks & forgot the hostname:(

Re: E-skip 7/27
I got a voice mail last evening from a guy near State College, Pennsylvania that was listening to KMXV in Kansas City like it was a local.

Re: E-skip 7/27
Ham radio reports are showing widespread sporadic-E again this morning across North America on the 50MHz band. I'm not hearing of anything in the FM band yet but "yet" may be the important word.
And I still can't remember the hostname for my SDR. (despite looking it up & writing it down before leaving for work)

Re: E-skip 7/27
Had a client checking out a potential translator channel yesterday who reported back that there was strong, unacceptable interference on it even though the channel is "wide open" at that location. Turned out to be a station from >250 KM distant. Fun times.

KSOC Gainesville, Texas over WWSW Pittsburgh in northern WV...otherwise nothing that unusual.
Re: E-skip 7/27
Yeah, there was extensive tropospheric propagation being reported around the Great Lakes for a few days as well.

That you do!
Some things that aren't really 6-meter antennas may work surprisingly well on 6 meters. I've made trans-Atlantic QSOs using my HF tribander and an old 2m 5/8 mag-mount.

Re: E-skip 7/27
Never thought of that. A 5/8 wave at 144 MHz is an even 1/4 wave at 50 MHz. Approximately. Any skip today yet?
