Re: SSL Certificate
This may have screwed up the normal login...'http' login doesn't "stick".
edit: and now it works OK. Nevermind...

Re: SSL Certificate
There will be some wonkyness while things get straightened out. Some pages are complaining about images, etc.. I'm sure I didn't do it completely right, and Tim will come around and clean up my mess.

Re: SSL Certificate
Meh...I was right the first time. The non-https login doesn't "stick" between sessions. No biggie, the https one does.

Re: SSL Certificate
I couldn’t even log in but adding the ‘s’ to the bookmark took care of that. Thanks, Chris and Mike, too, for helping me out.

Re: SSL Certificate
I sent Chris code which will make things "stick" but there may need to be an adjustment to phpBB to accommodate it. I had moved to SMF and needed to do a tweak to accommodate SSL logins.

Re: SSL Certificate
We are now set up to redirect all HTTP links to HTTPS. This should resolve any issues y'all may be having.
Re: SSL Certificate
The site doesn't seem to be accessible at all now with IE8, either http or https. Luckily Firefox got me in but it lost the saved login info.

Re: SSL Certificate
Do you mean that it lost the http:// info? That should still be accessible under Tools|Options|Security|Saved Logins.

Re: SSL Certificate
It's likely the security certs are too old at this point to work, as IE8 has been deprecated by Microsoft for ages.

I think the issue was that the previously saved username/password was for the http:// URL, and since the https:// URL is not identical, Firefox couldn't auto-fill the username/password info. I just had to re-enter it and save it. I'm glad I made a DOC file that contains all my URLs, usernames, and passwords.
I wish there was a way to update all these certificates so stuff would still work. Yes, I know IE8 is lost in a galaxy no longer supported but for me it's a lot faster than Firefox. There are no other options available for XP. Chrome gave up on it, Firefox isn't updating anything for it, and of course Micro$oft gave up on it and XP.

Re: SSL Certificate
When I need a browser faster than Firefox I use Opera. I started using Opera when downloading large collections of images, which it does much faster than Firefox, and it is now my #2 browser, behind Firefox and ahead of IE11.

Re: SSL Certificate
FYI: Opera actually uses the Chrome browser, or at least some of their APIs, for operation. It's the Tim Taylor version of Chrome.Dale H. Cook wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 7:55 amWhen I need a browser faster than Firefox I use Opera.

Re: SSL Certificate
I don't need or want integration with Google services. That is probably part of what makes Opera faster than, and consuming less RAM than, Chrome.
