AMP connector info needed AudioArts console

Post by ncfengineer » Wed Jan 09, 2019 5:19 pm

I am need of the model number of the 12 pin AMP connector and female pins for an AudioArts A-50 console. These are the same connectors/pins that are in their R-10 & R-5, etc., boards. Thanks for your help!

Can you share a picture? I know exactly where to get that information (my day job may or may not involve that company and the product information center may or may not be in my building. Maybe.)

I don't have a connector to send a pic. I have ordered these things in the past from DigiKey, but can't remember the part number for the housings and female pins.

Mouser used to have these shells and pins, but I can't find them on-line. May be obsolete. I may have a bag of pins with a Mouser number--will check tomorrow. I remember answering this same question on this board not long ago--but can't find it.

Alternative may be to call Wheatstone & see if anyone there remembers.

Eureka! I knew I had this somewhere. Yes, appears these things are still available. The R-60 uses 12 pin shells, the Auditronics 2500 (I have several of these in use) --use 15 pin shells. The "male" pins are on the motherboard headers, the "female" pins are used in the plugs. Here are the part numbers I found from a project installing an R-60; if you search in the Mouser site for "Headers & Wire Housings 12CKT MATRIX PLUG" you'll see a picture, change 12 ckt to 15 ckt for the ones used in the Auditronics 2500. The pins are the same, of course. Mouser has the extractor tool somewhere, but a small screwdriver works in a pinch.

CONNECTOR PIN (MALE) MR CONSOLE CONNECTORS
Digikey A14199-ND
Mouser 571-6405451

SOCKET CONTACT (FEMALE) MR CONSOLE CONNECTORS
Digikey A14197-ND
Mouser 571-6413001

CAP:
Digikey A14105-ND
Mouser 571-16405120

PLUG:
Digikey A14115-ND
Mouser 571-16405220

Yep, that's what I am looking for. Thanks so much for your help! I ordered a batch of these things about 10 years ago and haven't needed them since. My memory cells don't go back that far. Thanks again!!

Does anybody know if this is the same contact and shell used in Arracuss (heavy on the cuss) consoles? Or does anybody know the generic numbers for them.

Thanks,

These are rectangular plugs--the 15 pin about 1" by 1/2" with a 3X5 pin arrangement, 3X4 in the case of the 12 pin connectors used in the R-60 console.
The plug is about 3/4" high. The plugs have "wings" on the long sides that lock with the headers on the console motherboard. The headers have pins, the plug has socket crimp connectors.

The Mouser on-line datasheets show sketches.

I believe that they are the same type of plug but don't recall how many pins either console uses. I will look up the Mouser data.

I believe the Arrakis uses Molex connectors.
