Political Candidates & Talk Show Host

Post by dd92251 » Tue Aug 27, 2019 6:29 pm

Joe Walsh, (not the Rock & Roll guy) has a Talk Show on Salem Media. He recently announced that he is seeking the GOP Presidential Nomination. He has thrown his hat into the ring. Can he continue to Host his Daily Talk Show ? Or is that not allowed. :?:

Essentially, no. I understand that Salem has already decided to end the show.

Once he is an official candidate, his daily show would trigger the equal time rules.

Until he officially files he can continue doing what he has been doing. Salem has already sent notice to other stations that the syndicated version of his show is ending in the next 30 days, but the local version on WIND will continue until he is officially a candidate.

Knowing his past, it is about a 50-50 chance that he goes through with this.

Thanks everyone for confirming my suspicions, and verifying the "Equal Time" clause. Today's politicians worry me :)

Annnnd I think we're done.

Just a reminder about political posts here. While this post wasn't initially, it is "on the edge", and can go in the wrong direction too easily, so it's closed.

Thanks.
